I hope you enjoy these. If anyone enjoys the artwork I post and wants me to send them an original, let me know and I'll send it to you in a frame.
I often wonder how people 200 years ago used to survive. I'm talking more about the American frontier starting in Kentucky and going east. There was nothing there! If you didn't live in a city most likely there were no newspapers and it could be weeks or months before you talked to another human being; that in itself had to be mental torture. I guess to survive they just got a plot of land and slowly built a log cabin out of whatever they could find in the surrounding area. . But what they had to deal with had to be crazy. First you had just nature itself. There was no radar so you had no idea that a massive thunder and lightning storm or tornado was going to be there any minute or how long it was going to last. Then you had to deal with bears, snakes, bison, wolves and whatever other humongous, hungry dangerous wildlife would eat you that day. And what if you did get attacked? Like in that movie “The Revenant” with Leonardo DiCaprio where he gets attacked by a bear. Even if it happened in front of ten people-what are they going to do? There's no hospital, within 1000 miles. Or if you ate the wrong berry or there was a disease in the animal you just ate and got food poisoning. There's a funny movie called “1000 Ways to Die in the West” but I think that is low. I think there had to be 10,000 ways to die in the west.
Because on top of all this you had to worry about native Americans. In their eyes we are the invaders and we are attacking and plundering their land so I think they had a vendetta and had no problem sneaking up and ending your life. Or just other white men who have been walking through the woods for weeks, can't find anything to eat and see your cabin there. Desperate men do desperate things. So there's nothing stopping them from going into your house and doing what they want to you to get what they want from you. What are you going to do-call the police?
It had to be a hazard, complicated existence but that's what eventually made this nation the best nation in the history of the world. These were tough people who did amazing things that eventually were able to lead me here right here to this point. Me sitting in an air conditioned room with all the modern day amenities that we are now used to. So thank you 200 year old possible relatives for making my life fairly easy.
The Artwork-Well this guy sure is cute-it baby groot! Those giant eyes with the smile going across really conveys who he is in the movies. I love the vertical lines that will eventually grow into one of his powers. There's the little bit of shadowing in the planter he's coming out of and on the back of his head. The little leaves growing on his head that will eventually become full grown leaves. He looks happy and innocent. I like this one. I drew a Groot earlier in the year but he was an adult, this is Baby Groot. I hope you enjoy it!
