I hope you enjoy these. For anyone who doesn't know, this is a year long project for myself where I write a blog entry a day. The artwork is something I did last year. Before 1/3/23 I had never drawn one thing in my entire life and then one day I decided to teach myself to draw and drew like 350 pictures last year. It's not just for me but also for Swift Moves in hopes of getting our rankings up on search engines. Does it work? Who knows. If anyone enjoys the artwork I post and wants me to send them an original, let me know and I'll send you a framed copy.
It's so weird how problems all seem to happen at once. Of course most businesses and people all have problems but sometimes they seem to just pile on top of you. Lat week was a difficult week just because of normal problems but then I walk into work this morning and am hit with a myriad of fires to put out. It's all stuff that has happened before and will probably happen again but why does it have to be a week when there's supposed to be a hurricane here on Thursday? Oh that's right-there's a major hurricane headed this way! That's my job though, that's what I signed up for. It's one of the most difficult parts of my job. As an owner I must make decisions that could have bad consequences if they are not the right ones. Nothing life or death but potentially someone not having a job or me not being able to pay bills or someone not getting their move done. All these are extreme examples but the point is lots of time when I make a decision there's no guide book to tell me what the right decision is to make. There's no president. Everyday stuff like “should I call a mobile mechanic to the shopp to look at and MAYBE fix this moving truck or should I pay a tow truck to take it to the mechanic”. One option is one price and might get the moving truck fixed and one option is another price and might not get the moving truck fixed. There's no higher up than me, I must make these final calls. You would think after nine years I've ran into every decision that has to be made but here we are. As we grow as a company there are new challenges to face and overcome. And yes we are once again preparing for a hurricane to hit us; let's hope it passes with no problem. But that will be another decision that I have to make with no clear answer beforehand. Should we close up shop and potentially lose business or should we risk it and stay open hoping the storm passes us with no big consequences. we.ve encountered numerous storms before and it happens the same way every time-If we stay open there's a direct hit and we are scrambling at the last moment, but if we panic and reschedule all the jobs the storm changes course and we don't get any rain at all. That's just how the moving business is. With moving in Tampa Bay and storage there's a lot of decisions that have to be made. I love it!
The Artwork-”I'm a banana, I'm a banana, I'm a banana”. I have no clue where this guy is from but it's some type of banana character and I think I have another one tomorrow. There's nice bright yellow colors with a little lighter shade on the top to show a tad perspective. It's almost a sad banana because he is crying. Why is he crying? I don't know. I'm not sure if it's a person in a banana costume or if the banana has eyes and appendages. I hope you enjoy it!
Contest-This is an ongoing contest. It's a weird thing. On 6/27/24 we started with $10 then everyday I'm adding $1. The first person to call in or comment or message gets the money. Here's the kicker. You can either call in right now and get $10 (or whatever it happens to be this day) or wait till the next day when the money goes up. I think I have like 175 days left so the pot can get up to almost $200. It's free money, it's not a scam,
it's in the marketing budget. No employees or employee families are eligible. I hope you win! The total on 9/22/24 is $93.
In about a three days or so from now I will be starting a new workout routine to finish this year off. I'm really going to challenge myself and I am not even sure if I will be able to physically do it. I'm calling it the 100/100/100 challenge. As the days get closer I'm getting more excited but I'm also dreading it a little bit because it's going to be a challenge to myself that I've never even come close to doing. I'm getting old though and need to start taking better care of my body. I've been doing some very light workouts to get these old bones loosened up this week.
