I hope you enjoy these. For anyone who doesnt know, this is a year long project for myself where I write a blog entry a day. The artwork is something I did last year. Before 1/3/23 I had never drawn one thing in my entire life and then one day I decided to teach myself to draw and drew like 350 pictures last year. It's not just for me but also for Swift Moves in hopes of getting our rankings up on search engines. Does it work? Who knows. If anyone enjoys the artwork I post and wants me to send them an original, let me know and I'll send it to you in a frame.
Have you ever seen on the internet where youtubers or whoever buys mystery boxes? They spend a certain amount of money for a box that's a mystery but it usually exceeds the amount they paid for it. I was part of the company who originally thought of that idea. I'm not making this up. I've mentioned before that I used to work for a television station. Our job was to sell jewelry to clients through television. We sold some pretty high end jewelry. One time I sold a $50,000 necklace at 6AM. We also sold a lot of sterling silver stuff priced anywhere from $10 to $500 or more. But nothing was certain and sometimes people just weren't buying stuff. Like any other business it was slow sometimes. So one time a host named Eric was frustrated and put a bracelet in a box, called it a “mystery box” and let the bidding begin (we sold a lot of stuff auction style). The phones went crazy and the mystery box was born. From then on if we were having a slow day we would throw something in a box and sell it as a mystery box. We would tell customers the appraised or retail price, what type of stone it was, etc.. We had entire hours that all we did was sell mystery boxes-and people loved them. I forgot why but we eventually stopped. We never ripped the people off or anything. If they didn't like it we would usually refund them and we would never let people bid too much money, the phone reps would tell them ot to bid anymore. It was a blast. Here I was at 3AM selling a $4,000 ring sight unseen and the client was thrilled.
So anyway, I don't know who tries to take credit for that but we were definitely the very first ones to do it as far as I know. This was in 2011 so way before social media and the internet got to be as commercialized as it is now. I miss that job, it was probably the funnest job i ever had.
Artwork-I Don't know where this guy is from but I absolutely love looking at him and I loved drawing him. He looks like he's about to take ten paces and be in a shootout. Let's start from the top and go down. He has a cool hat on with Aztecian triangles going around it. You can only see a small portion of his face because it's blocked by a poncho. Even though you can only see half of one eye and a small portion of his nose his face tells a story and makes a statement that he is not to be messed with. His poncho is brightly colored with a lot of orange and yellows and the back of it is flowing back like the wind has hit it. Then the legs and feet are just kind of there. Even though his hands could have been drawn a little better I love the colors and shapes in this one. I hope you enjoy!
Contest-This is an ongoing contest. It's a weird thing. On 6/27/24 we started with $10 then everyday I'm adding $1. The first person to call in or comment or message gets the money. Here's the kicker. You can either call in right now and get $10 (or whatever it happens to be this day) or wait till the next day when the money goes up. I think I have like 175 days left so the pot can get up to almost $200. It's free money, it's not a scam, it's in the marketing budget. No employees or employee families are eligible. I hope you win!
The total on 8/29/24 is $71.
