I hope you enjoy these. For anyone who doesnt know, this is a year long project for myself where I write a blog entry a day. The artwork is something I did last year. Before 1/3/23 I had never drawn one thing in my entire life and then one day I decided to teach myself to draw and drew like 350 pictures last year. It's not just for me but also for Swift Moves in hopes of getting our rankings up on search engines. Does it work? Who knows. If anyone enjoys the artwork I post and wants me to send them an original, let me know and I'll send it to you in a frame.
We are right across the street from a National Guard building. Once a month when we come into work at 7AM half of our parking lot is filled up with cars from people all over the Tampa Bay Area doing their American duty and training for whatever the National Guard trains for. Yesterday when we came in there were four really nice buses (I guess you could call them “coaches” because they are so nice) waiting to take them away to parts unknown, unknown to me at least. But that means they got called up and have to leave their families, jobs, social life and everything else behind to go serve this great country. I'm not a military expert but I like this process. The idea that you can train once a month and if the nation needs you, then you get called up and have to go protect someone, somewhere. I'm not sure if other countries have this system but as far as national security goes, this seems to be a good system. I always feel bad when I pull up to the shop and I see these heroes getting ready to ship out. I always wonder if I missed out on serving my country in this way. I almost joined the military but my step-dad who is retired from the army actually talked me out of it. I think it could have given me a few life lessons and monetary rewards that would have helped me later in life. But if I did join I don't know if I would have met my wife and had my children. But in conclusion- thank you Army Reservists who take one weekend a month to do the training and then get called up when required. And when I say this next part I mean it from the bottom of my heart-you and the rest of the military give me the opportunity and make it possible to live the life I live so thank you for everything!!!
PS-We have nice military discounts here at Swift Moves!!!
The Artwork-”Everything is awesome.
Everything is cool when you're part of the team
Everything is awesome
When we're living our dream”
I don't think this iconic guy needs an introduction because he's iconic and I don't really know his name. I think it should just be generic. I grew up playing with LEGO so this one hit pretty close to home. I did my best with this one and I think it shows.
I love his giant brown hair that looks like a “piece” which in reality it actually is. His hands are awesome. The way his eyebrows, smile and eyes go together pretty much sum up who this guy really is. Nervous but ready for the job. It's kind of hard to notice but in parts of his legs there are three different colors of orange because they are meant to be bent and therefore would be different colors for different angles. One would think that drawing all the straight lines with his safety vest and belt would be easy but it's the opposite. The straight lines are harder to draw because they have to line up perfectly, if it's off by one little millimeter it throws everything out of whack. I remember drawing these straight lines taking a long time on this guy (I know his name is Emmitt) I hope you enjoy it!
Contest-This is an ongoing contest. It's a weird thing. On 6/27/24 we started with $10 then everyday I'm adding $1. The first person to call in or comment or message gets the money. Here's the kicker. You can either call in right now and get $10 (or whatever it happens to be this day) or wait till the next day when the money goes up. I think I have like 175 days left so the pot can get up to almost $200. It's free money, it's not a scam, it's in the marketing budget. No employees or employee families are eligible. I hope you win!
The total on 7/18/24 is $31.
