The Time I met Bruce Jenner

If you read these please start from the first day or not whatever-it's your life.

Today's blog is not some great life lesson or questions about my immortality but about the time I met Bruce Jenner. That's right-1796 Olympic Decathlon Gold Medal winner Bruce jenner. I realize that's not her name now but for the sake of the first half of the story I'll call her Bruce then I'll change it later.  In probably 1985 there was a big buzz in my little town that someone famous was coming to the mall. This was a big deal-no one ever, ever famous came to our town. I think Elvis did in the 1950’s but that's about it. So eventually my Dad found out it was Bruce Jenner and we go to the mall. I guess we got there a little late. I don't know if he was doing autograph signings or what but whatever he was doing he was finished. But somehow my Dad saw him leaving and took my hand and started running after him. I'll never forget we were directly in front of Spencer Gifts on the three steps that go down by the ramp (anyone from Temple, TX knows exactly where I'm talking about) and my Dad caught him from behind and said “Bruce this my son Jeremy”. Bruce looked back at me, shook my hand and said “Nice to meet you Jeremy, I have to get going”. And that was it.

Even though this entire interaction only took a total of five seconds I'll never forget it. Not because of meeting the future Kardashian step Dad/Mom but because of the lengths my father went to make this happen. It might not seem like a lot but this was waaaaaay out of character for my Dad, I guess he really admired Bruce Jenner.

Thanks Dad, if you ever read this I still remember it and appreciate what you did.

The Artwork-This is the dinosaur from Toy Story. I never saw the movie. It was a little after my childhood but not quite late enough for my children. I rode the rides at Disney world and it was pretty awesome.  But I like the artwork. If you would have told me a year ago I would be able to draw a dinosaur and it would be actually recognizable, I'm not sure if I would have believed you.  Once again it's the eyes. They are small but portray who this guy seems to be timid but wants to be tough. Put that together with his small/cute hands, his tail, his teeth and his nostrils-you have a pretty cool piece of artwork. I like this one.

Day eleven of the elliptical-I went from 26 minutes to 30 minutes last night. Even though it was tough I got through it but I ran into an unexpected problem last night. My left leg and knee started hurting and not in a good way. I ran through the pain but I'm not sure if ruining my ability to walk is worth this challenge. I'm going to do a lot of stretching tonight before I get on the elliptical. Other than that I love this running every night. It's a definite high that gives me this great feeling after I'm done.
