The 129th One 5/11/24

This morning the internet was out at our work-it happens sometimes. Today was not just here but to other businesses and homes. Even when it says to :”use cellular data” it wont work. As a side story I remember when I used to work at the television station sometimes the electricity would go out or the satellite would go down. There were 150 people working at any time at this tv station so if those services were down then we just had to sit around and wait for it to get fixed. Meanwhile we were not making any money. This was a place where we had to sell at least $4000 of product an hour just to break even. So if you can imagine there's this huge building with all these employees sitting around doing nothing and getting paid for it. The owner was losing it. If you do the math, conservatively he's losing $50 every minute just in  labor. Probably double that if you take what we had to pay Direct TV and Spectrum and everyone else-the owner was running around like a mad man yelling at people; I can't blame him. 

But back to the main story. Me and my office mates are flipping out right now because we have no internet. The provider said something about a fiber optic cable getting cut and it won't be until this afternoon. Now imagine if something serious really happened. What if somehow someone disrupted the internet for the entire country or world and no one had the internet? We would all be going crazy. This isn't some type of political or doomsday post but just a scenario I think about it my head sometimes. Do they have redundant systems to make sure the internet stays secure? Do they have a plan B? When I say “they” I don't really know who I'm talking about, maybe whoever is in charge of the internet. Bill gates or Mark Zuckerberk I guess. My only hope is guys like these two have a very serious interest in keeping the internet up and running so they can keep making a $1billion a day. We’ve all become so used to having the world at our fingertips and it would be absolute chaos if we lost our precious phones with internet access. I know personally I would probably go pretty nuts but mainly because I need the internet for my work and my family. I think if we took those two out of the equation I could make it. Im pretty interneted out. I can only look at so many lists on Buzzfeed before it gets pretty repetitive. As a matter of fact one of my goals is to eventually be pretty internet free except unless I absolutely need it. 

The Artwork-This  guy brings back big memories. Its Link from the Legend of Zelda. Zelda was the second game I ever got for my Super Nintendo NES. We played this game constantly but I never beat it. It’s definitely an ingrained 80’s memory for me. This guy (girl? Not sure) has a lot going on. Let's start from the top and go down.  First he has this cute little green hat covering his famous golden hair. His face in emotionless as to say “I'm not here for fun but to achieve my mission of finding (whatever)”. Then in his left hand you have his famous sword stretched out and ready for battle but he's got his defense in his right hand with that cool looking shield. I love anytime I get to draw a sword and when there was a shield that was just a great bonus. I like the shapes and symbols on his sword plus it has what appear to be rivets in four different places. Then you have his cool belt and shoes. I really liked drawing this one and really like looking it it for my own admiration and enjoyment.

Day 24 of the elliptical-Day six of 60 minutes straight on the elliptical. My wife says I need to only do it five days a week but I'm not so sure. Ill consult some people and see what they say. I feel like I can go sixty straight days with no problem. There may be a day or two where I go out early one morning and dont get back till really late and that might be a day I have to miss. I can't sacrifice commitments to my family for a made up goal that will be ok if I miss one day. 

PS-I actually wrote this one day and came back and posted it the next because we had no internet.
