The Twenty Sixth One 1/30/24

If you read these please start from the first day.

The moving business can be weird sometimes, especially at the end of the month. Jobs get moved around, closings fall through, there are always last minute people calling in for moves, which we do our best to accommodate, whatever the case we have learned to roll with punches, control what we can and always do our best.

Here's a small story from yesterday. As of yesterday afternoon about 3PM we had a full schedule, all hands on deck, all crews running, everyone working. Then about 4PM one of the bigger jobs (actually the biggest job) called and had to reschedule, something with some personal issues or something.  This was a big job. Two trucks, four guys, all day long, which of course kind of (and excuse my language) sucked when they had to reschedule. But then the moving gods reached down and gave us a hand. At about 445 a gentleman from Tampa called and needed a mover for today. It ended up being a two truck, four guy all day job, that's bigger than the one that rescheduled! So now we not only get to do this one, we get to do that other one next week. If that first one would not have rescheduled or would have called a little later or the one for today would have called an hour earlier, we would not have been able to accommodate him and would have missed out on a big job. It doesn't always work out that smoothly but we got lucky yesterday.

Moving Tip-Read reviews before you hire a mover. Nowadays this almost seems automatic but it's still worth writing about because I'm running out of moving tips and need something to write about. Any company that has been around a while is going to have some bad reviews, you can't make everyone happy. We currently have a 4.8 rating on Google which we are proud of after eight years. It would be almost 5-star if it was not for some obvious fake reviews. Out of like 320 reviews I think about three of the negative ones are from our actual customers. But when someone wants an entire refund because of a scratch on a dresser, there's not a lot we can do, they are very obviously looking to shake us down. I would rather take a small hit with a bad review than give in to an extortionist. Out of the over 10,000 moves we have completed, that's not a bad percent of not satisfied clients. So read a few positive reviews and then read the negative ones. I can promise you that we have tried our very best to try to make an unhappy client happy. And you can get a sense of this in all the responses to the bad reviews.

The Artwork-I went big with this one. When you try to draw something from freaking Star Wars (which is like my Wife's favorite movie), you better get it right. I think I did ok with CP3PO. He was much, much more detailed and more complicated to draw than I thought before I started drawing. At this point I still had not discovered simple tools, like a ruler, that would make my art easier to do and make it look better. I think he still came out pretty good. Better than tomorrow's drawing at least.

Day 27 and not a word from my family as to why I've abruptly stopped drawing after doing it everyday for a year. They have witnessed me taking pictures for this blog and have not even asked why I am taking pictures of the pictures.
