I hope you enjoy these. For anyone who doesn't know, this is a year long project for myself where I write a blog entry a day. The artwork is something I did last year. Before 1/3/23 I had never drawn one thing in my entire life and then one day I decided to teach myself to draw and drew like 350 pictures last year. It's not just for me but also for Swift Moves in hopes of getting our rankings up on search engines. Does it work? Who knows. If anyone enjoys the artwork I post and wants me to send them an original, let me know and I'll send it to you in a frame.
I've been in the moving industry for about 26 years now. The only two things I truly know and believe is number 1-stuff constantly changes and number 2-you can never stop learning. I'll talk a little about the second one today. One of the funniest things to me about this industry is any and every mover who has done this jon for three months or more thinks they are the best mover in the entire world! I'm not sure why but it has something to do with the fact that you don't have to go to any trade school to be a mover and it's a job almost anyone who is physically able to do can do. SDo someone gets a job here and then 90 days later thinks they're an expert. I've had guys who worked here for a month arguing with a guy who has been moving furniture for ten years. But that brings me to my point that goes with this job and probably any other job-you can never stop learning. I moved furniture in one particular way for almost twenty years then I went into business with someone else and they showed me another way that was way better. The way I did for two decades was thrown out the window. I'm always up for a better way. Everyday I keep my ears to the ground and listen for little nugs of info that may make my job easier. When I started this business I was not a mechanic. But after years of having to fix trucks I know more about engines than I ever imagined I would. I know more about social media than I ever thought I would (I could live without that one but it's part of the business). I talk to guys all the time and ask them “are you a millionaire? Are you retired?” The answer is always “no”. Then I tell them that they need to listen and learn because if they knew everything they wouldn't be working for me, I would be working for them. So the lesson for today is never stop learning. The pursuit of knowledge is one of the best things in life.
The Artwork-I have mixed feelings about this one. Overall she looks good for my level of experience but there's a few problems, really just one and that's the eyes (it's always the eyes). One of the eyes just doesn't match up perfectly with the other one. I remember I worked for like 1.5 hours on one of these eyes. But other than that I think she looks good. Nice colors all around, nice strap hanging off her dress, the lips and node look good and I think the proportions are nice. I hope you enjoy it!
Contest-This is an ongoing contest. It's a weird thing. On 6/27/24 we started with $10 then everyday I'm adding $1. The first person to call in or comment or message gets the money. Here's the kicker. You can either call in right now and get $10 (or whatever it happens to be this day) or wait till the next day when the money goes up. I think I have like 175 days left so the pot can get up to almost $200. It's free money, it's not a scam, it's in the marketing budget. No employees or employee families are eligible. I hope you win!
The total on 7/14/24 is $27.
