I hope you enjoy these. If anyone enjoys the artwork I post and wants me to send them the original in the frame just message me and I'll send it for free. Otherwise, I hope you enjoy my senseless ramblings.
Last night I was on the elliptical watching that movie “The Iron Claw” on HBO and it made me remember this one really weird day in my home town of Temple, Texas when a rumor started and like 200 people started to congregate at this convenience store for no reason. Temple is was small but not too small, like 55,000 people at the time, so it wasn't like everyone knew everyone else and we were just sitting around bored to death. But I remember I was probably about eight years old. Somehow I was one of the first people at this gas station on this intersection of 31st street and Ave M. Then more people started showing up. A rumor started that something big was going to happen, then it became a rumor that one of the Von Erichs, which is a wrestling family based in Texas that was the subject of the aforementioned movie “The Iron Claw”, was coming in his limousine to sign autographs. It was supposed to be a promotion for this new gas station or something. People were calling other people (on the payphone, this was way before cell phones) and more people started showing up. Within like an hour we went from 5-10 people to what I would imagine would be like 100-200 people. Who knows, it could have been 25 people and my memory is bad but I'm fairly sure it was hundreds. So there we are just waiting on something, nobody knows what, to happen. I think we stayed about three hours and then everyone started to disperse. Till this day nobody has any clue why we all were hanging around there. Not sure if it was a fake rumor started by the new gas station to get free publicity (which I highly doubt) or if everyone was just extremely bored that day. It had the feel of a bad radio promotion but there was definitely no radio station there. I have not thought about this story in like 20 years but it was one of the absolute weirdest things that I have ever been a part of.
The Artwork-My favorite part of doing all these posts and artwork analysis is everyday I don't know what the drawing is going to be since it's been so long since I looked at it and it's like a nice neat surprise everyday. Today it's the mushrooms from Super Mario Bros !On this guy it's not the eyes but the furrowed eyebrows that give him his character. They're furrowed giving him a mean look; add the tough looking teeth and his feet in mid stride-you can tell this guy has only one mission and that's to keep Mario from rescuing his princess.
Day 44 of the elliptical-Day 27 (out of 60) of 60 minutes straight on the elliptical. I did 15 minutes on setting 5 yesterday, then I did 45 minutes on setting six, I was too tired to try to do more. I'll probably do 15 minutes of setting 5 today and the rest on six.
