If you read these please start from the very first day.
Another hectic morning. I think we are just like most other companies-you have two faces. The first face is what you put out to the public-everything is fine and easy going and everything goes off without a hitch. But the second “real” face is everyone in the background running around on fire making sure the public only sees the first face. Like a duck in the water, you see the smooth gliding head but not the feet paddling 100mph under the water. I've had this company for eight years and have been in the moving business way longer than that so you think it would get smoother but apparently it does not. I'm FB friends with a lot of other moving business owners and they pretty much say the same thing. For the most part it's the human element of running any business. You think you have enough people to get the jobs covered then an employee has a death in the family (that really happened today). You can't force them to come to work so you have to have contingency plans-which we do. What are they you ask-I'm not going to tell you, that's a closely guarded company secret. The moving business is such a weird business. There's no set schedule so you have to find guys who are flexible. If you know how to do it, you can make a nice living. I put myself through college and many people work here do fairly well for themselves. But the biggest thing one has to do in order to make money is they have to want to do the work. The guys who say “I didn't get any hours last week” are the exact same ones who are always out sick or don't want to do a second job or always have a reason as why they cannot work-they usually do not work here long.
Moving Tip-This might seem simple but label all your boxes. Put in big letters on the top of a box and preferably also on the side of the box “kitchen”, "2nd bedroom” or “bathroom” or whatever it may be. This helps out with knowing where to put the boxes at the unload.
The Artwork-I liked this one. Once again a Flintstones character, one of my favorite cartoons. I liked the color purple that was used and I think you can tll by the lines my drawing is improving just a little bit.
Day 21 and still not a word from my family as to why I've abruptly stopped drawing. Someone even said the words “your phone is on the table by the art studio” last night.
